The "Jefferson River Metals Project Area TMDLs and Water Quality Improvement Plan" was approved by the U.S. EPA in December of 2014, and the "Lower Beaverhead River and Upper Jefferson River Temperature TMDLs" was approved in November of 2014. Both final documents are available on DEQ's Final TMDL Documents webpage.

The draft "Jefferson River Metals Project Area TMDLs and Water Quality Improvement Plan" will be available for public comment beginning Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The public comment period will run until 5 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014. The draft document and information on submitting comments will be available on DEQ's webpage at: http://deq.mt.gov/pubcom.mcpx. Copies of the document will also be available at the Butte, Twin Bridges, Whitehall, and Three Forks public libraries. A public informational meeting will be held Tuesday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center in Whitehall (11 North Division St.)

 

The "Lower Beaverhead River and Upper Jefferson River Temperature TMDLs" document has been submitted to the U.S. EPA for approval. A notice will be posted when the final document is available on DEQ's Final TMDL Documents webpage.

September 2, 2014 The draft "Jefferson River Metals Project Area TMDLs and Water Quality Improvement Plan" is available for advisory group review and comment on the TMDL Document page until September 16, 2014. Please submit comments to Lou Volpe at LVolpe@mt.gov
August 13, 2014 The public comment period for the  draft "Lower Beaverhead River and Upper Jefferson River Temperature TMDLs" document has closed. DEQ is in the process of reviewing and responding to the comments received, and is preparing the document for submittal to EPA for approval. A notice will be posted when the document has been approved and is posted on our Final TMDL Documents webpage. Advisory group members will be notifed by email when the final document is available.
July 9, 2014 The draft "Lower Beaverhead River and Upper Jefferson River Temperature TMDLs" document is now available for public comment until 5 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014. The document and information on submitting comments can be found on DEQ's website at: http://deq.mt.gov/pubcom.mcpx. A public meeting will be held Thursday, July 17 at 1 p.m. in the Town Hall conference room in Whitehall (2 N. Whitehall St.). See the public notice for additional details.

The draft temperature TMDL for the upper portion of the Jefferson River is available for stakeholder review and comment on the Beaverhead-Upper Jefferson Temperature project page. Please submit comments to Christina Staten at cstaten@mt.gov.

 

A TMDL advisory group meeting will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Jefferson Ranger District office in Whitehall (3 Whitehall Road) to discuss the draft document and the water quality monitoring data and modeling methods that were used to develop the TMDL.
