LOWER GALLATIN TMDL OUTREACH

This page is intended to provide the public and local stakeholders information regarding opportunities for involvemnt in the TMDL process. Meeting announcements, presentations, and project updates will be posted here as they become available. Also, as draft TMDL documents become available, they will be posted here for review and comment by stakeholders and other interested parties.

The Greater Gallatin Watershed Council (GGWC) acts as the local coordinator for outreach events, meetings, and additional information dissemination on water quality issues and TMDLs in the Lower Gallatin TMDL Planning Area. A general descrition of the LGTPA public and stakeholder invovlement strategy is also given in Appendix A of the LGTPA Project Plan

June 2011

Recent TMDL Activity:

E.coli and Nutrient (Nitrogen and Phosphorous) evaluations using recent data (2008-2010) have been completed. Pollutants for which TMDLs are being prepared are included in Section 1.0.
Potential septic loading estimates are being developed following methods in Nitrogen and Phosphorous Migration and Attenuation Assessment from Subsurface Wastewater Treatment Systems
Stormwater wasteloads are required for MS4 MPDES permitsAssessment of pollutant stormwater loads to area streams for TMDL development is underway. For a summary of the approach, seeStormwater Wasteload Approach.
Data and QA reports from 2009-2010 nutrient and flow monitoring is posted at Lower Gallatin TPA Nutrients.

Jan 2011

Technical TMDL development tasks in 2011 include evaluating attainment of water quality targets, estimating pollutant loads from different source categories, and establishing load and wasteload allocations to pollutant sources.
